RE:GENERATION Track: Mark Ronson “A La Modeliste”

I can definitely say I feel like I may have saved the best for last. Produced by Mark Ronson, “A La Modeliste” is the Jazz track for RE:GENERATION featuring Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste, and Members of The Dap Kings. I have always loved jazz music, and growing up in the South I have becoming particularly fond of the jazz that comes out of New Orleans. I also love the multi-talented Mark Ronson. His talents as a DJ, Guitarist, Music Producer, and artist all shine in this track and he helps New Orleans Jazz music shine in an extremely brilliant and innovative way. A great track from the RE:Generation project that makes me hope they continue the project in the future with more artists and genres.

I have nothing but respect for all of these musicians that participated in the RE:Generation project. The work they have done is inspiring and I hope it influences other musicians to take part as well. The goal of the project was to challenge these artists to discover how our musical past is influencing the future, and so I tip my hat to the RE:Generation Music Project. Job well done and mission accomplished.

RE:GENERATION Music Video: DJ Premier “Regeneration”

DJ Premier doesn’t disappoint in his RE:Generation mix. Faced with the daunting task of bridging classical music with his unique and unparalleled ability for producing massive hip-hop instrumentals and albums. Not an easy task at all. Calling upon Nas and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra for assistance he helps to create a way truly appreciate the influence and greatness of classical music for those who don’t have the greatest interest in it. Its amazing what DJ Premier can do.

RE:GENERATION Music Video: Pretty Lights “Wayfaring Stranger”

So I think we can all say that the idea of combining electronic dance music with country music is not a concept that crosses our mind too often. This video may change all of that. When I first heard that Pretty Lights would be working to discover the country music genre and have to find a way to combine it with his style of music, I was expecting a train wreck. Instead my jaw dropped as Pretty Lights‘ new Country track for RE:GENERATION featuring LeAnn Rimes and Dr. Ralph Stanley is honestly the most creative, inventive, and visionary way to flawlessly combine two seemingly unrelated genres of music.

RE:Generation Music Video: The Crystal Method – I’m Not Leaving

Another killer mix from this regeneration project. The Crystal Method works with Martha Reeves and The Funk Brothers to show how R&B can influence a style of music that at times can appear to have nothing in common with it. I love the funk and R&B that comes out of this mix, and I can’t help but praise The Crystal Method for this ingeniously cutting edge mix.

Regeneration Music Project: Skrillex & The Doors – Breakin a Sweat

While all of the tracks of the RE:Generation project are available to listen to on HyundaiUSA’s Youtube account, the official music video for Skrillex & The Doors’ Breakin a Sweat is up and it is killer. The song truly is an innovative take on Skrillex’s style fused with the Rock n’ Roll reputation of The Doors. This really shines a light on what the RE:generation project is trying to accomplish. Truly incredible and unique innovation from Skrillex. I hope to see more stuff like this from him. Give the other RE:Generation project mixes a listen as well. They are all one of a kind.

Don’t worry! The next posts will all be dedicated to more regeneration mixes!
