Featured: Wick-it The Instigator

True electronic talent has the ability to navigate in between different genres without so much as a hiccup. Wick-it The Instigator has that talent. He’s got his fingers in electro-house, dubstep, and moombahton. What I like most about his style is that while clearly displaying the ability to flip back and forth between very diverse styles, the base influence is very oriental and drum related. The end result would make you think he’s from Malaysia or India, but in contrary is really from Nashville, Tennessee! I’ve posted two tracks below which highlight his ability to change style, and pump life into some well-known hip-hop tracks. Best of all, you can download them for free in the Soundcloud player. Cheers

Dr. Dre – Still California (Wick-it Moombahton Remix)

M.I.A. – Bad Girls (Wick-it Remix)

Featuring: DJ GLDFNGR

Ahh… dim the lights, turn on the fire, and come join me on this pristine white couch because it’s time to get sexy kids. GLDFNGR is all the way from South Carolina, but his deep house track mixes have no borders. As hinted in the first sentence, these tracks are very emblamatic of what deep house truly is. Soothing bass, relaxing tones, and in sometimes sexy vocals that really make for a nice soul-filled song. So far it’s only been mixes, which is perfect for setting a gentle mood or kicking back and knocking out some work. The first three installments of his SoulFNGR Series are provided below and can be downloaded for free off his Soundcloud (out of the widget too). My favorite is from 10-26 but don’t let that deter you from checking out the others! Cheers

Mroz Cast: January Podcast + Tracklist

I am literally JUMPING for joy that the new Mroz Cast is up!! In December I had the privilege of posting about his December cast, and just when I wasn’t sure how he would top that one, he releases the cast for January 2012. His seamless transitions mixing from one song to the next is unbelievable. He makes great song choices and mixes seem like they come from some superhuman DJ with talents that are rare and appear to be almost completely unnatural. Not that I’m complaining or anything. His podcasts give me an hour of non-stop, quality, grade A music, so I definitely have no problem with that. I just wonder how he does it!? Oh thats right, it is because he simply loves the music, and that is what makes me simply love him. So without further ado here is January’s Mroz Cast :)

Another Great Count Effectz Remix

Alright, so about a week or so ago I posted a featured article about Count Effectz, and he has continued to blow my mind ever since. I think its safe to say that I am pretty much a big fan, and his latest addition to his growing collection of songs definitely makes me realize why. My mind is blown by his music and his new remix of Calvin Harris Feel So Close is just a completely innovative take on the song that exhibits his really fun and unique style. Michael is even being so kind as to provide you with a free download for all of your love and support. Feel free to give it a listen and download! You won’t be disappointed!

soFLY – Girls Gone Wild

Well if you have seen the video Dubstep France then you were probably as impressed with the music as you were with the dancers. soFly is the very elusive artist who produced the tracks you heard in the video, and I can’t seem to find him anywhere on the mcinternet- other than his possible last.fm channel. Expertly mashing together hip/hop and dubstep, the sound Raphaël Judrin (soFly?) creates is crystallic catchy and has me begging for an official release, or at least a soundcloud page I can follow. Yet my plea may be answered, as there are rumors of an official release coming in April! Until then, I’ll keep looking for some good quality leaks of his stuff. Download Girls Gone Wild here and take a listen below.

Meet Michael Abaté

Arizona's best kept secret

Everyone knows that Swedes produce the best house music in the world. Maybe it’s genetic, or maybe its just something in the water, but we all know its true. Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Dada Life, among many others only prove this statement, so when American-born Michael Abaté went back to Sweden to explore his roots, he found his calling in music, and of course it had to be Electronic.

This 23 year-old DJ turned producer has done more than most up and coming DJs have dreamed. Opening for names like Diplo, Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, Axwell, Rusko, and events like DayGlow and University of Arizona’s Pi Kappa Phi’s Swampwater. This kid’s resumé is impressive to say the least, but don’t think for one second that he’s some stuck-up, in-house DJ, oh no- Abaté is humble and wise beyond his years and one of my great friends. His passion for producing his own music gives him an edge over an DJ on the market, and is certainly one of Arizona’s, if not one of the world’s best kept secret.

Abaté’s Swedish influences are easily identifiable,  but he has his own style that is all his own. So, without further ado, here is Abaté’s ESOM debut. Enjoy my friends.

Featured DJ: Sebjack

Okay I can’t tell if I have an unhealthy obsession with Sweden, or if Swedes just are unnaturally great at Djing/Mixing? Either way, I present another great Swede: Sebjak! I absolutely love that his mixes are filled with a thumping yet not overpowering bass that almost puts you in a trance because its so addicting. Always making me come back for more, I now introduce Sebjak! I’ll let his music do all the talking on this one.

Another Great DJ from Sweden: Alexander Adstedt

Okay so I think there may be something in the water over there in Sweden. I was introduced to Alexander Adstedt after listening to Avicii’s latest podcast, and after listening to him; I knew I just had to share my love for his greatness to the rest of the world. Helping to maintain the rep that Sweden seems to be gaining for having some of the best DJs around, I can definitely see this guy moving up the ranks and achieving total and complete stardom. His electro house beats are captivating and I can’t wait to hear more from him in the future. Check him out:

14 Year-Old DJ Prodigy??

Holy Crap. Can I just start out by saying that before you listen to these mixes, I want you to know this kid is only 14 years old. No joke! Producing for less than a year, he is definitely one to keep an eye on because if his work over the last few months is any indication of work to come then he will be a household name in no time. My jaw literally dropped with this mashup of Nero and Skrillex. Truly speechless. Check the kid out and prepare to be impressed.

Featured: Mroz

Okay so there is something different about Mike Mroz, and I think it may be the fact that he has the ability to bridge Tech House and Progressive House in a crazy unique way. His goal? To fuse together his European roots with American tastes. As I listen to his mixes, I realize that his mission has definitely been accomplished! Bringing in his influences from all aspects of his life, Mroz makes these great mixes that can keep you going for days. His podcasts are filled with unrelenting techno-tronic beats, great hooks and melodies, and the way he mixes and remixes songs makes his music so easy to enjoy. Featured: Count Effectz

Such a treat! Okay, we need you to do us a favor and REMEMBER this name: Count Effectz. Count Effectz (Michael Williams) from Sydney, Australia is busting out mixes the likes of which many of us have never seen before. Impressed by his versatility, as he is really able to adapt to the ever-changing genre of electronic dance music, and I personally am a big fan of all his music I have heard thus far. It has this dubstep, electro, house vibe that is really unique, and I think it is only a matter of time until you start hearing his name more and more frequently here in the U.S.
