Skrillex-Bangarang EP

Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, and 12th Planet on the far right.

OK, so I know most people have a love/hate relationship with Skrillex and his music, however, “Summit” featuring Ellie Goulding, the first track off of his latest EP, Bangarang, has been on repeat since I first heard it. It is a little repetitive but the track has a very chill vibe with nice, punchy bass.
Ellie’s tracks (most notably “Lights”) have been remixed by nearly every DJ/producer to the point where I say to myself, “I used to like that song,” so to hear her on a track and not remixed makes this one all the better.

Another gem off this EP is “Bring Out the Devil” featuring SOFI(SomeOtherFemaleInterest) most notable for her vocals on deadmau5′s “One Trick Pony”, and “SOFI Needs a Ladder”. I love SOFI, in every sense of the word (f*ck you Tommy Lee, she’ll be mine one day). Her vocals give can cause one to have multiple eargasms and her raunchy, sexy sound is reflects her appearance perfectly.

Also on the EP is the collaboration between Skrillex and The Doors. “Breaking a Sweat” is a great track mixing signature dubstep sound (or brostep, we can debate genres later) with samples of vocals from The Doors. To be honest, besides the intro, I don’t see where exactly in the track The Doors had much of an influence. I get the feeling that it was more of “hey sing into this mic and watch me work”, assuming that The Doors aren’t very good dubstep producers.

The rest of the EP is decent, but not really worth going into. “Bangarang” and “Kyoto” are good filler tracks, but lack the depth of the other three songs and replayability that I crave. Enjoy
